• Rogue Treesilience

Urban Forest Resiliency for the Rogue Valley

Through the following initiatives this project will restore, maintain, and diversify the urban tree canopy, while creating lasting resilience to extreme weather events and the threat of invasive pests such as the Emerald Ash Borer.

    Services:

    • Tree Planting
    • Tree Preservation & Maintenance
    • Hazardous Tree & Stump Removal
    • Tree Monitoring & Mangement
    • Workforce Development
    • Community Engagement & Education
  • Why?

Our Rogue Treesilience Program is dedicated to increasing tree canopy in the Rogue Valley, with a special focus on underserved and vulnerable communities disproportionately impacted by environmental challenges. As climate change accelerates the decline of urban canopies in the region, this program takes proactive steps to plant climate-resilient, large-canopy trees. By enhancing urban greenery, Treesilience aims to mitigate the effects of rising temperatures, improve air quality, and strengthen community resilience. Through collaboration with local organizations and residents, the program fosters equitable access to the environmental, social, and health benefits provided by a thriving urban forest.

    Who?

Under grant funding from the Oregon Department of Forestry's Urban and Community Forestry Program, services are prioritized for, but not limited to, individuals within the EPA’s Disadvantaged Community Environmental and Climate Justice Program boundaries. Residents of urban areas with limited canopy cover due to wildfire or urbanization are also prioritized. If you're unsure whether you qualify, we encourage you to submit an application for services. A member of our team will contact you to discuss your eligibility.

    How it Works

Through our Rogue Tresilience program, OUR Community Forestry empowers homeowners with expert guidance on urban trees, helping them care for existing trees, safely remove and replace hazardous ones, and plant new trees that align with their personal goals and are suited to Southern Oregon’s warming, drying climate. This proactive program strengthens the resilience of our urban forest, ensuring it continues to thrive and provide vital benefits to our communities in the face of climate change.

    Who to Thank

Funding for Rogue Treesilience is provided by the Oregon Department of Forestry's Urban and Community Forestry Program through a federal award received from the USDA Forest Service. The project is designerd to build community, climate, and invasive species resilience by supporting frontline communities in Southern Oregon. In preparation for the imminent threat of Emerald Ash Borer, which is expected to decrease the region’s already limited urban tree canopy, we are providing resources to plant, preserve, and diversify our urban forests.
