Jennifer Killian
Jennifer Killian is an Assistant Professor of Practice in the College of Forestry at Oregon State University, where she teaches in the Urban Forestry Graduate Certificate program and supports statewide urban, rural, and community forestry Extension efforts.
Jennifer’s passion for urban and community forestry was sparked in her home state of Wisconsin, where she worked on the state Department of Agriculture’s Emerald Ash Borer team during the beetle’s initial detection in 2008. After earning her master’s degree at Oregon State University which focused on long-term strategic urban forest management, she deepened her community engagement experience with Friends of Trees in Eugene.
Her most formative role to date was serving as the Urban Forester for the City of Corvallis, where she led tree management, planning, and community engagement efforts that shaped her deeply held belief in the power of urban forestry to build stronger, more connected communities.
Jennifer is an ISA Certified Arborist, a Qualified Tree Risk Assessor, and a member of the Pacific Northwest chapter of the ISA. Outside of work, Jennifer enjoys life as a semi-professional cake baker, triathlete, heart attack survivor, and her favorite title yet, new mom.
